: : Can anyone give me an interpertation of the nymphs reply. I don't understand what its trying to say. Also if you know any background on the poem let me know thanks.
The Nymph's Reply is the response of Ralegh to Christopher Marlowe's "The Shepherd to His Love". Ralegh suggests through his chaste nymph that love in the Spring and Summer and fro with an amorous shepherd might be all well and good but as time pes so will youth, comfortable weather and, alas, love. The nymph has been propositioned and she's saying "no thanks."
