Can someone please tell me if they've ever heard this poem, and if so can you tell me who wrote it? Some of the words could have been changed, but if it sounds familiar would you please let me know.
In days of old when knights were bold and there was magic in the land, I found an enchanted lake and rode upon it's golden sand.
There was beauty to the eye and ear -- magnolia trees and birds of song, I dismounted and desired to rest as I had ridden all day long.
Thru the mist upon the still water, I saw I thought a graceful swan of white, but as I peered as it neared, she was a beautiful lady aglow with light. A sword she held in one delicate white hand, and out of nowhere I heard a Wagnerian aire played by an unseen band. From her figure and face, she was the most beautiful vision I had ever met,
A puzzle I did detect, for though she walked in water she was not even wet.
She emerged with her flowing white gown dry from the deep, surely, I thought I must be asleep.
She approached me and a cool breeze swept my troubled brow, I looked in her deep blue eyes and yearned for her if Heaven would allow.
She handed me the sword called Excalibur and said, "Do not tarry here." For out in the world of darkness there are dragons that fair maidens fear.
She kissed me and bid me go to the hinterlands to battle the evil force, and so I regretfuly left The Lady and rode away on my horse.
I had to leave my lady love at the enchanted lake, for 'tis my life's lot to right the wrongs and alas love forsake.
